LOST Thoughts : This Place Is Death ( Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Island)

“Red” may be on to something here. Let’s take some inventory.

charlotte-tCharlotte : Deceased, part of mission to stop another Purge-like incident
danielfaraday-tDaniel: Also part of the mission to stop another mass murder on the Island
miles-tMiles : Appears to “communicate” with the dead(?)
lost-locke-t1Locke : Must become a sacrifice
christianshephard-tChristian: Could be dead…or not
claire-tClaire: See Christian
lost-sawyer-t1Sawyer: Confronts and kills the man who “inspired” his familial tragedy, at the Black Rock
juliet-tJuliet: Came to help dying mothers and their babies
danielle-t1Danielle: Killed science team “infected” by the monster, now also deceased
lost-jin-tJin: Chooses to let Sunsun-tthink he is dead

And that’s just some of the people still on the ISLAND?! πŸ™‚

But what about Island’s healing properties? How does this line up with what else has been going on? Is the Island “bad” , like Jin said? Or is it, as Locke declared,” a place where miracles happen”? ( Season 4 finale). Can it be both?

We see a few “mirroring” aspects in this episode, as well.
In the past, Daniel told Charlotte that if she came back to the Island, she would die.
In the present, Daniel is trying desperately , on the Island, to keep Charlotte alive.
Jin wants Locke to “prove” his death , with his wedding ring, to Sun.
Sun, because of ben-t13Ben and the wedding ring, believes Jin is alive .
On Island, Locke is preparing to die.
Off Island, looks like Hawking and the gang are going to bring Locke back to “life”.

Charlotte warned not to let them bring” her” back? Sun? Ji Yeon?
Claire (?) warned lost-kate-t1Kate not to bring “him” back in Season 4 finale. Aaron? Locke?
(Does this have to do with Sun’s “play date” with Aaron and Ji Yeon? Adam and Eve(?) …we’ll see πŸ™‚ )

But …
Locke insists that the O6 must come back, instructed by someone who shall remain “anonymous” (for now)
Phone call to Kate, telling her she “has to go back before it’s too late” (Season 4 finale)
Ms Hawking, Ben, Christian, all say they must go back together. It won’t work otherwise.

Daniel said that if the O6 coming back mattered in the scheme of time travel “repair”… they are moving out of the science realm, presumably, shifting from the natural into the supernatural. So, I suspect that when Charlotte’s was saying “You’ll find it at the well”, that phrase had a little more meaning than her merely pointing out a landmark near the Orchid. πŸ˜‰

Is the Island synonymously a place of reckoning and restoration? Is the Island, much like the donkey wheel, the place where the world originally came off its “axis” and needs to be set right? That perhaps, in the grander story, the Island is the battleground of where Life and Death have their “fight to the finish”?

This place may be death now … but it looks like life might be getting its “second wind”. πŸ™‚

remember the card game Daniel and Charlotte were playing on the beach during season 4 (can’t remember the episode now) Charlotte was trying to get Daniel to remember something about the future. Then they go to the temptest and he has to “remember” how to disarm it so Ben can’t do it again. I’ve been thinking of those 2 incidents this week. Seems like They both remembered time jumping in the past. At least Daniel did & Charlotte was aware of it. Or maybe I’m missing something.
